The Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars, are a prestigious award usually held late in February or early in March after the relevant calendar year. For example, an editor can only vote for the Best Editor nominees, and a director can only vote for the Best Director. All voting members can vote for the potential Best Picture nominees regardless of this rule.
